reuse the whole thing: glass bottles - top rated glass water bottles
This is the first part of the series (hopefully)
Here I will show how to loop things up to maximum.
Let me start with simple things. a glass bottle.
Maybe many of us try to make a glass with a bottle and then throw away the rest of the bottle.
I did it for a long time too, but until recently I stopped throwing away the top of the bottle because they made a great lampshade.
Since this is the first part of the series, I plan to participate in the "Teach It" contest, so there will be more explanations about all of these processes.
I am currently cutting and polishing myself with a tile cutter, Dremel and a simple flat loop (
For this I sometimes make and "flexible" decisions too)
This brings us smoother, more predictable results, but I know the frustration of not being able to make things due to the lack of fancy fixing tools as I only have this little tile cutter.
That's why I decided to make this statement as simple as possible and within the reach of many people. A glass bottle (Good wine;
Dremel rotary tool with diamond grinding stone (
85422 good working)
And polishing wheels (425 is great)
, Each should be enough, just remember that the sharp edges will eat the polishing wheel very quickly, so try to avoid doing so;
Wear glasses, masks and thick leather gloves;
Hand-held glass cutting machine; A scraper;
Sharp knife (x-acto works); A marker; A ding benzene torch (
Can replace some water with candles); A lightbulb (
4 W Philips E14 LED in my case)
, Bulb socket, power plug and some cables;
To cut the bottle, you must find one first.
If you drink wine in order to empty the bottle and for your own safety, please postpone cutting it again until you are awake.
Sharp edges and blades are not well mixed with poisoning.
You then need to remove the tag, and in order to do this effectively, you need to determine how the tag is stuck to it.
Tip: scratch the corner of the label --if it's dry -
If the glue is sticky, the glue will fall off with the water
The glue is acetone/mellow.
Mine is dry, so I speed up the process by scraping off the main part of the label, and then wash the rest with scrub and some liquid detergent.
If your is sticky, lift the peel with a spatula, then wash with acetone, or put the bottle in the oven or hot water to add hot glue, the glue will fall off better, and then clean the remaining glue.
Think about how high you want your cup.
I prefer about 10. 11cm (4-4,3 inch)
So I marked around the bottle.
Now take the bottle and find a position where you can rotate it steadily, mark a line around the bottle while trying it out so you can know a position, in which, you can draw a line around the bottle as straight as possible.
Now that you know where you are, draw the line with the glass cutter.
If you're making a ring too, there's another one around your neck.
Wear glasses and gloves when you get time, because small pieces move in all directions when you get time.
Ignite your propane torch or candle, heat your bottle, and then heat it along the score line until it starts to break (
You may need a fine stream of water if you use candles).
You should eventually get something similar to the three parts seen in the ninth picture of this step.
You must wear protective glasses when heating, and gloves are also very convenient.
Tip: It takes some time to get along with heating and glass.
When starting to heat the score line, do a few runs along it to warm it up a little bit, not the pressure, and when you hear it start to break, don't take away the heat right away, from a larger distance to some places.
Keep in mind that this step involves a lot of possibilities of failure, which happens when you cut the bottle with heat.
You can see that I failed when I got it (
Figure 4 of this step)
Then failed some more while heating (pic 6)
Finally, I cut another bottle. pic 10)
I even heated the ring with a grinding wheel, thus cracking the ring on the original bottle.
The failure rate is high in this way, and if you speed up the process like I did, the failure rate is even higher.
You can try to fix the bad cracks on the line by scoring another line, but it's more likely to hack somewhere incorrectly again.
Now that your bottle is cut, it's time to grind and polish.
Wear glasses and masks for your own safety.
Even if the edges reach your level of satisfaction with the diamond sand grinds, you should end up as shown in figure 2 of this step.
You want to grind enough so that the score line is no longer visible.
I suggest you bypass the sharp edges first so that you don't accidentally cut yourself when grinding other spots.
Polish the place you grind and you can skip the shiny part where it is cut in place.
Despite the recommendation of 15 k-, I use my polishing wheel at 25 k RPM
This gives me a more shiny ending because I haven't had any problems this time.
You should eventually get a finish similar to the one in Figure 4.
After hearing something like a grunt, look around in surprise.
Discover that your dog is watching you while enjoying himself.
Happy smile, continue.
Take a sharp diamond tip and engrave something on your ring if you want.
I suggest you draw the design with a marker pen before you actually carve it, unless you are really good at dremel.
Tip: in addition to endless grinding, there are several ways to remove the remaining large pieces of glass on the line you intend to level.
You can remove the large pieces with pliers.
They are likely to rest on the score line.
There is also a way to use heat.
Although the risk of breaking in the wrong direction is very high, I do not recommend going to the dingbenzene torch, but if you do not move and push around, you can use the grinding wheel to generate very local heat down a little bit.
It is likely that larger blocks will split and jump off the score line.
When you see the glass melting around the grinding wheel, you will know that it is very hot there.
Wait, you may have to clean up the dust on the glass and connect some cables before that.
Cleaning is not rocket science, I think, although the simple wiring does not meet the requirements of science.
Pick up the cable and connect the two wires to the opposite side of the power plug or bulb socket and don't forget to put the lampshade between the socket and the plug.
Because it may be evening now, you have a great chance to turn on your new light, sit down and pour the drink into your newly made glass, thinking about your newly acquired skills, relax and smile with satisfaction.
Other comments: If the bottle is cut using a diamond cutting piece, technically it is possible to use Dremel alone.
However, I don't, and I don't think it would be a good idea on any other bottle other than a very thin one, because otherwise it would heat too much or too slow.
I'm sure a lot of people on our structures have a lot of ideas.
Anyway, I hope there will be at least a short section in this article --
Let you take and lift yourself.
It's not revolutionary, but it's worth reminding yourself of something.
You may have a question, who am I to tell some valuable ideas, which is a valid question because I don't have that much credibility other than being trusted by custom reuse --
Including projects that have enough trust in my ideas and execution, so that everything from design to production is not constantly checked until it is completed.
The idea is the connection point.
The more you see around you, the more points you can connect.
This means that you have to provide ideas for yourself to get ideas.
You can do this in many different ways, such as traveling, interacting with different people or just wandering around the Internet, and you have to find out how your brain works best.
I do this by connecting the points I see on the Internet, and that's everything from how the form is combined to how something works.
This is the same as in the instructures, QQ space, Reddit, repliart, Etsy TED becomes very useful.
So, find something that works for you and do it.
When you come up with something in your mind, write it down. Seriously.
This is the only way you can keep it. Write it down!
When it comes to the realization of ideas, some of them seem out of reach, some of them are actually, but most of them are not.
Tools can be borrowed or rented, workplaces can be found or manufactured, and, if so, funds can be raised in various ways.
Look around and see what others are doing and how.
It boils down to "You have to provide ideas for yourself to get ideas ".
You will find a solution if you want enough.
I would suggest everyone take a look at some great resources on the topic that might expand people's usual view of ideas and make them happen: everything about Kirby Ferguson is a mix video loop;
Stealing Austin Crane's book like an artist;
This thread on Reddit thanks for taking the time to read the article and I hope it will be useful.
If it looks good for the gamevote for it. Thank you!
