consumption of oxygen in sea water under controlled laboratory conditions - glass water bottles for office

In a recent Atlanta waterway cruise, oxygen consumption in water samples collected at 4,600 station, 18 layers between the surface and the depth of 2886 (32° 19 N. , 65° 59 W. ; June 19, 1937)
Determination under controlled laboratory conditions.
Two glass bottles (with ground-glass stoppers)
As soon as he got the deck, he filled every water bottle in Nansen;
One group of 18 samples was stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 11 °c, and the other group was stored in the laboratory at a temperature of 24 °c.
After ten days of storage in the dark, the oxygen content of the two groups of samples was determined, and the values were subtracted from the initial oxygen content of the sample, resulting in what we call oxygen consumption.
